How to become a volunteer referee?

1. Sign up as volunteer.

2. Complete a Regional Referee course: Online training module + Half day in-person field training or Full day in-person training

3. Complete the required volunteer safety courses:
Safe Haven (online)
Concussion Awareness (online)
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (online)
SafeSports (online)
     
4. Complete the required background check and fingerprinting:
Sterling background check (online)
LiveScan fingerprinting (in-person)

AYSO Region 127 Youth Referee Program

Kids as young as 12 years old are permitted to officiate matches in the U10 division and below.  Refereeing in AYSO is a terrific way to help kids learn responsibility and build self-confidence.  As the kids enter high school, they have opportunities to manage more challenging matches and even earn High School Community Service credits as AYSO referees.

The AYSO Youth Referee Program is an opportunity for youths age 12 or above to participate as referees. 

All referees must be at least two years older than the divisions they referee.

Experienced adult referee mentor are available to help new youth referees.
